Hello folks! My name is Zoë, and I am seventeen. I am extremely passionate about the environment, especially the social aspect and how it pertains to environmental sustainability. My Dad is an environmental consultant and my Mom is an environmental educator with 30 years of experience in the field. She is awesome! My totally-cool brother is fifteen and he loves studying nature, and he is passionate about empowering youth in environmental activism. Together, we all live on our 55-acre organic tree farm, on which sits my pride and joy: our big yellow 1860 New England style Greek Revival farmhouse, dubbed Lemon Drop for its color. The farm is a great place to learn, as the history is incredible, the ecology is wonderful, and the wildlife is amazing (except when hungry bears visit our trashcans at night!). Our family owns a 1931 Ford Model A pickup truck named Sparky, and someday I hope to convert him to an eco-friendly, alternative-fuel vehicle to keep up with the times! I am so excited to have a role in our family’s goal of becoming a sustainable family by 2030, and I can’t wait to meet everyone! Here’s my own “Two truths and a lie”… see which ones you think are true about me!
- My absolute, all-time favorite heavy metal singer is Ozzy Osbourne! Hands down the best!
- The Norway Spruce is my favorite kind of conifer… the branches that look like wizard sleeves are the most beautiful of any tree!
- There was a Finnish family who lived in our house… they left behind newspapers in Finnish from the 1920s before they moved to Alaska to become gold miners during the Great Depression!
