Hi there, fellow youth and families! My name is Zach, and I am a very nature-enthusiastic fifteen-year-old! My dad, Chris, is an LSRP (Licensed Site Remediation Professional—someone who oversees environmental investigations and cleanup projects) at an environmental consulting company, although he works from home at our large, yellow, 1860 farmhouse and 55-acre organic tree farm here in the Finger Lakes region of central New York. My mom, Andrea (Ande), is an environmental educator with 30 years of experience teaching youth, elementary through young adult, internationally, and writing school curriculum. My sister, Zoë, is 17, and is really proud to be a teen “glarmer” (glamorous farmer)—she loves learning about the history and cultural anthropology of our farm, which has seen many centuries, residents, and significant events over time—this is a consistent topic in the work we do at our farm! As for myself, I am an avid zoology and ecology learner who is really excited about the incoming spring season—one of my favorite studies is birds, and with the warmer temperatures starting to settle in, I am excited to study the prospects of strong bird migration in the following months.
To get to know a bit more, here is a fun “Two Truths and a Lie”…about me! See which things you can get right!
- I have been to five birding festivals nationwide, which has inspired me to study the Bay-Breasted Warbler this spring.
- I have really big, wide feet (size 10) and just grew ¾ inch in one week.
- I can play Fϋr Elise by Beethoven on the piano.
